Powertrain: The 2012 C5 will continue to use the current model’s 2.0L, 2.3L, and 3.0L naturally aspirated engines. While retaining powertrains like the 2.0L + 5-speed manual, 2.3L + 6-speed automatic, and 3.0L + 6-speed automatic, the 2012 version will focus on introducing a new 6-speed automatic transmission for the 2.0L model. This transmission, shared with the 2.3L and 3.0L models equipped with Tiptronic intelligent 6-speed automatic transmission, will positively impact fuel economy, aiming to meet the needs of more entry-level consumers.
Configuration: As a heavyweight new car specifically introduced by Dongfeng Citroen for the 2.0L market, the configuration of the C5 2012 2.0L Premium version will be built according to the highest value standard of the 2.0L market. Fifty rich configurations such as automatic sensing headlights, automatic wipers, ESP, cruise control, and seat power adjustment achieve the highest level of configuration among vehicles in the same price range, bringing consumers more convenient and intimate driving enjoyment, and setting a new benchmark for value among vehicles of the same class, achieving comprehensive surpassing of consumer value for 2.0L vehicles.
Suspension Performance: Citroen’s suspension may appear to be ordinary front MacPherson and rear multi-link, but the modification on these two suspensions maximizes their characteristics. Firstly, the top of the front MacPherson suspension (the two cap-like things inside the engine) is reinforced on this model — reinforced with high-strength alloy and bolted to prevent the common problem of deformation of the suspension top cover after multiple impacts, thus improving the suspension’s lifespan. Then there’s the work done on the rear suspension. Citroen’s rear suspension has also been reinforced — mounted on the rear axle, it has been significantly reinforced. There’s also its installation position. Other models, in order to avoid lateral forces during driving, can only increase the suspension stroke, making it weak and powerless. But Citroen’s two rear shock absorbers are mounted on “horns,” allowing them to be neither too soft nor lose their ability to absorb lateral forces. Another advantage of Citroen’s rear suspension is the use of high-strength L-shaped arms, rather than the common V-shaped arms, greatly enhancing the strength of its rear suspension.
