On the evening of December 28, 2019, the 2019 NIO Day took place in Shenzhen. NIO’s founder and chairman, William Li, took the stage and unveiled the NIO EC6, the company’s third mass-produced vehicle, an electric intelligent SUV coupe.

On September 11, 2023, NIO’s official blog announced that the new EC6 would be released on September 15.

On September 15, 2023, the all-new NIO EC6, an intelligent electric SUV coupe, was officially launched and made available for sale.
