Wenjie M5

“Wenjie M5” is a car jointly produced by Huawei and Saic Motor Corporation under the AITO brand. It is the first car released under the collaboration between Saic and Huawei. Wenjie M5 comes in two models. On April 11, 2024, it was announced that the new Wenjie M5 would debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 23, 2024. On April 23, 2024, Huawei held a launch event for the new Wenjie M5, marking its official release with a total of three models available.

Description

On December 23, 2021, at the Huawei Winter Flagship New Product Launch Event, the “Wenjie M5” was officially unveiled. In March 2022, according to a message released by Saic’s official WeChat account, the Wenjie M5 user delivery ceremony began on March 5th in Shanghai. AITO Automobile held delivery launch events in multiple cities nationwide on March 5th, officially delivering the Wenjie M5 to owners.

On May 28, 2022, during the 2022 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Auto Show, Huawei’s Terminal BG CEO and Huawei Intelligent Car Solution BU CEO, Yu Chengdong, revealed that the AITO Wenjie pure electric version would be launched as early as September.

On July 27, 2022, AITO’s first pure electric vehicle, the “AITO Wenjie M5EV,” was officially announced for release in September. On April 5, 2023, it was announced that the Wenjie M5 would introduce an advanced intelligent driving version, equipped with Huawei’s latest intelligent driving technology, capable of advanced assisted driving functions without the need for high-precision maps.

On April 13, Saic Motor announced the release of the AITO Wenjie M5 Intelligent Driving Edition and new products on April 17. On April 17, Huawei released the AITO Wenjie M5 series Huawei Advanced Intelligent Driving Edition, including a pure electric and an extended-range model. The extended-range version’s CLTC range increased by 14.7%, reaching 1425 kilometers.

On May 3, 2023, AITO delivered a total of 4585 new cars in April. Since the start of deliveries in March 2022, AITO has delivered a total of 100,000 units of the Wenjie M5, M7, and M5 pure electric models.

On April 17, 2023, the AITO Wenjie M5 Intelligent Driving Edition was officially launched. According to news from Yiche, the first AITO Wenjie M5 Intelligent Driving Edition in the country would be delivered at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Auto Show on June 16th.

On July 2, AITO Wenjie held an “AITO Wenjie M5 Intelligent Driving Edition User Experience Day” event in Shanghai, introducing the AITO Wenjie M5 Standard Edition to the public. On July 25, 2023, Wenjie Automobile announced the official price and benefits of the new Wenjie M5 Standard Edition model.

On August 2, 2023, the AITO Wenjie M5 Intelligent Driving Edition received its first OTA upgrade, including the opening of urban intelligent driving navigation assistance (NCA), urban lane cruising assistance, and intelligent parking assistance upgrades in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, and Chongqing.

On December 4, 2023, the results of the winter testing by Dache Di were released. In the night backlight ACC test section, both the Wenjie M7 and Wenjie M5 passed the test smoothly.

On April 11, 2024, it was announced that the new Wenjie M5 would debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 23, 2024. On the afternoon of April 23rd, Yu Chengdong, Executive Director and CEO of Huawei’s Terminal BG and Chairman of Huawei’s Intelligent Car Solution BU, announced at the launch event of the new Wenjie M5 that batch deliveries would begin on May 15th.

On December 23, 2021, the AITO brand officially launched its first intelligent luxury electric SUV model, the AITO Wenjie M5. It is reported to be the first commercial vehicle featuring the Huawei HarmonyOS smart cockpit. Through the HarmonyOS system, the intelligent cockpit integrates users’ sensory operations and incorporates them into the entire Harmony smart terminal ecosystem. By establishing seamless connectivity at the underlying level, it achieves smooth information and interaction flow between different devices under the same account, completely breaking the previous isolated state where different devices acted as “islands”.
